District 4 Candidates

I attended the 2022 Mayoral Forum at Southeastern Louisiana University’s campus yesterday.

What An Experience!

Here I am….

A 24 year old with the desire to participate in my city’s electoral events and a hungry to bridge the gap between the tax payer and tax delegator - who am I???

Mingling with the politicians of my hometown was a new norm for me. I decided to understand the cause for the candidates’ campaign and their personal drive to better the community. The panel of candidates who attended last night’s event were given the chance to mingle with their potential voters and provide clarity on their game plan for the districts of Hammond this upcoming term.

The 2 CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATES Running for District 4 (Lincoln Park) are:

District 4’s Current Councilman & Realtor……

Sam DiVittorio

Sam DiVittorio, our community’s current city councilman was born and raised in Hammond, Louisiana. DiVittorio shared with his audience how his family’s background of farmers, educators, and law enforcement contribute to the heart of his campaign. Since the last election in 2018, District 4’s current councilman has implemented more sidewalks in various advocated for large multiple family homes, added additional deployments to various parks in D4, assisted family’s affected by hurricane Ida find release programs, and planned more ways to fund improvements for our city’s infrastructure. With little time remaining in this term, Sam has a few more weeks to follow up with any last minute compliments/concerns/requests from his community.

Chat with Sam at the upcoming community event in JackSon Square.

More details later!

Criminal Justice Instructor……

Karolyn Harrell

Karolyn Harrell is a lifelong resident of Hammond, Louisiana. Her experience and education with criminal justice is the fuel of her campaign. Mrs. Harrell’s main focus is to defuse the crime rate in the city of Hammond. “Our crime is up…local leaders have to take responsibility for that”, explained Karolyn to the residents of District 4 attending the mayoral forum. This candidate is already prepared to hit the ground running with reform (correction) programs catered to juveniles whom she has yet to gain a glimpse of their reality in order to understand their violent behavior. At tonight’s forum, Karolyn also expressed her love for the city and how she receives the same love in return. I wonder if Candidate Karolyn intends to show that same love to the teenagers/young adults she believes are contributing to higher crime rates in District 4 or is her main concern to collaborate with the justice department and law enforcement to remove the “problem”?
