LOVE

An action. A feeling. A fantasy.

“Love you”

When I say these words to someone I’ve known all my life, the phrase shoots out of my mouth so fast that it becomes a ritual at the end of every phone call. I am not listening for a response from the caller on the other end, I quickly hang up and go about my day.

Not to water down this endearing phrase when I say it to my family members, but I hope they know these words are true before I say them.

“I love you”

When I say this phrase, the words have swarmed around in my head several times before escaping my lips. I recite in my head over and over how the recipient of such a rare and honorary expression will receive my message.

My breath shortens and my pupils widen. I am anxious to sense the admiration from the person who may only  know a portion of me. A person who sees me as I am in the season they met me.

Love has many meanings. Whoever you deem worthy to trust with your love is your choice.

Choose wisely.
